I held

his face in my hands. The caress wasn't a gentle one. My hands were cold and stiff on either side of his still and warm face. I knew I was forcing him to look at me.
"Do you know how it feels to be in pain over something you caused, but you're no longer the one inflicting the pain?"
"No. Does it matter?" he responded, shrugging his shoulders.
"It feels like breaking a promise you expected someone you trusted to keep. It feels like watching someone you care about date someone that will break their heart. It feels like losing the only thing you've ever tried to keep. It feels like you ignoring me."
He stared at me, into my eyes. He seemed to be looking for something that I couldn't show him. The knots looping in my stomach clenched painfully. My heart beat out of time. Veins in my head throbbed. This was your fault.
I released his face and hung my head.
"Goodbye, Charlie. I won't bother you anymore... I just wanted you to know how much this hurts me. I hoped you would care. You don't. Goodbye." The scene faded out and I was once again alone in my restless slumber.
