This Had Been For Ash.

"I don't love you anymore."
The words were powerful, strong, and heartbreaking. They were words she'd practiced in the mirror more than a million times. She still didn't believe them, and had he looked her in the eye, he wouldn't have believed them either. He was staring toward his feet though, studying the scuffs and creases on his old white sneakers, and he believed her well-rehearsed words. The sound of his heart shattereing seemed to echo in her ears. "I'm sorry," she whispered, sincerity drowning her words.
"Me too," he spoke simply and looked up at her. "Goodbe," flitted off the edge of his tongue and hung between them like a finality before death. Then he turned slowly, with a broken smile and leaking eyes, and walked away.
She couldn't bring herself to watch him go, so she turned around, swallowed her lies, and took her first step toward moving on.
