Have you ever Googled "beautiful places" in images? Have you ever noticed how almost ever single one of the is taken from a place on the water? Is that what people think of when they think of beauty? If I were to say, "think of a beautiful place," would you say, "a beach,"?
Can a beautiful place not be in the mountains? On a snowy hill? On a ranch with horses grazing in bright green pastures, wooden fences and flowering trees breaking the grassy hillside? Instead I'm finding pictures with clear waters, high cliffs, sandy shores, and waterfalls.
My goal today was to find a beautiful picture of somewhere I've never been, place myself there and blog about it, enhancing the things I can see in the picture, imagining animals and sounds and smells that might be there. But, I'm telling you that all I can find is beaches. Sure, theres a snowy mountain top with a log cabin covered in white stuck in here. Even a desert and The Great Wall. What good are they doing me if I don't find them strikingly beautiful?
So I'm going to ask Mom where the most beautiful place she's ever been is. If she tells me a beach, I won't be writing of it.
Goodbye.
